CAC was blessed with a beautiful gymnasium in 2009!

Gym Dedication & 20 Year Celebration

.

Praises were lifted up to the Lord.

The Gym Dedication and 20 Year Celebration was held on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. That evening, a chili supper in the main building, a cake auction and fun time in the gym from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. that evening.  The faculty, board members, students, parents, grandparents and others from the community attended the dedication.  The following dignitaries wrote letters of support for the “Crumb Rubber Tire Grant” ($42,355 for the gym floor):   State Senator Earnie Harris, Governor Beshear, Congressman Geoff Davis, State Representative Rick Rand, Judge Executive Shorty Tomlinson, Mayor Dwight Louden, Lisa Evans from the Recycling and Local Assistance Branch in Frankfort, and Mitchell Perkins from the Division of Waste Management. CAC is truly grateful for all the prayers, support and effort given towards their multipurpose gymnasium.

The Christian Academy of Carrollton has existed the last twenty (20) years through the Lord blessing the prayers, efforts, fundraising, donations and faith walking of the board members, staff, students, parents, grandparents, friends and different people in the community to supply the needs of the school.  CAC began in 1989 with twelve students and three teachers in the Valley Christian Church basement.  CAC remained at this church until 1995.   In the fall of 1994 the upper grades moved to Family Worship Center due to student population growth.  The next year all grades moved to FWC; and remained through 1995-1996 school year while the new facility was being built.

Five acres of land was purchased from Atochem (Arkema) at 1703 Easterday Road in 1995.   Construction of the main building, financed through a bond program, was completed in the fall of 1996.   Classes began in the new facility for the 1996-1997 school year.  In 1998 CAC purchased a used triple wide modular for the high school building, and in 1999 the small storage shed was built.

Then in 1999-2000 school year, the board members, staff, students, parents and grandparents began fundraising for the multi-purpose gymnasium facility.   The gym portion and locker rooms of the facility were completed, and temporary occupancy granted in February 2009.  The following portions of the multi-purpose facility still in construction:  two large restrooms, sport’s director’s office, storage room, mop-sink room, utility room, kitchen and stage area.   Financial and volunteer support is needed greatly to complete the construction of the different areas.  The project’s estimated expenses will be around $450,000 from beginning to its completion.
